Add existing backlinks and import a CSV
Bring links acquired outside Submora into your monitoring workspace. Preview errors and duplicates before importing, then inspect each published page.
GET READY
Before you begin
Add the website that receives the backlinks to your workspace. Prepare the public page addresses where the links appear, rather than submission forms or directory homepages. All independent and submission-associated links share your plan’s monitoring capacity.
Choose manual entry or a CSV file
In Backlink management, click Add backlink for one placement or Import CSV for a batch. Select the website that receives the links. Imports apply to one selected website at a time; split a multi-website file before importing.
Provide the source and target addresses
Published page URL is required. Target URL is optional and defaults to the selected website homepage; it can point to a specific page on the same domain. Source name, notes and published date are optional. Leave the date empty if it is unknown. Saving records a reported placement; it does not establish that the backlink exists.
Prepare the CSV using the template
Download template from the import dialog. Use UTF-8 CSV with a url header. Optional headers are target_url, name, note and published_at. Dates use YYYY-MM-DD and cannot be in the future. Quote values containing commas or line breaks and escape a quotation mark with two quotation marks. Keep each file within 1 MB and 500 data rows.
Review the preview before confirming
Choose the CSV file and click Preview import. Inspect the Ready, Duplicates and Invalid counts, row numbers and reported problems. Existing URLs for the same website and repeated URLs in the file are skipped, including matching submission records. Fragments are ignored for duplicate detection; query strings are retained. Download skipped rows when you need an error report. Preview does not save records.
Confirm the valid new records
Click Import links to save valid new rows. Invalid and duplicate rows are skipped without overwriting existing records. If the new rows exceed available monitoring capacity, the import is rejected without partially saving them. Reduce the file or review your plan. The server checks again on confirmation, so results may change if another import happened after preview.
Monitor, edit or remove a placement
Select Independent backlinks in the source filter. Open a record and use Check now, or select eligible records for Batch recheck. Independent links also enter the scheduled monitoring workflow. Use Update record to edit details or delete with confirmation. Changing source or target URLs clears previous check results; changing only a name, note or date preserves them. Export independent links is available on Growth and Agency Early. Deleting a record removes its stored monitoring data without changing the external published page.
DECISION REFERENCE
Understand the monitoring signals
Use this reference alongside the recorded requirements and evidence for your destination. Check uncertain details before acting.
| Signal | What to read | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| url | Required public source-page address. | The exact page on which your backlink was published. |
| target_url | Optional; defaults to your website URL. | Use a specific destination page on the selected website domain if appropriate. |
| name | Optional source name, at most 120 characters. | Defaults to the source domain. |
| note | Optional notes, at most 2,000 characters. | Record acquisition context and useful follow-up information. |
| published_at | Optional YYYY-MM-DD date. | Use a known publication date; leave unknown dates empty. |
EXPECTED RESULT
Check your result
Valid new links appear under Independent backlinks in Backlink management. The import reports saved and skipped counts. New links await their first automated or manual check; they are not presented as verified solely because they were imported.
WHEN YOU NEED HELP
Common questions
Does importing consume a submission allowance?
No. Independent links consume monitoring capacity, shared with links associated with submission records. They do not create submission tasks or consume guided or automatic submission allowances.
What happens if I upload the same file again?
Matching source URLs for the same website are skipped. Existing records are not overwritten.
Can I use one file for several websites?
Each import belongs to one selected website. Split the file and import each website separately. Target URLs must belong to the selected website domain.
Are imported links immediately verified?
No. A reported published URL is separate from check evidence. Use Check now or wait for scheduled monitoring, then inspect the result.
What happens to bad rows?
Preview identifies their row numbers and problems. Confirmation imports valid new rows and skips invalid and duplicate rows. You can download the skipped-row report, fix the original CSV and try again.
Can I export imported links?
Growth and Agency Early include exports. Select Independent backlinks and use Export independent links. The current website scope is applied.
