Review published-link checks and handle issues

Inspect the published page, target link and indexability separately, then use evidence to decide whether to recheck, verify manually or resolve a follow-up.

GET READY

Before you begin

Save a confirmed published page URL against your submission record. You can also use Add backlink or Import CSV to bring independently acquired links into this workflow. Select the associated website, review the CSV preview and confirm valid new records. Existing records are not overwritten; all sources share the monitoring capacity.

Available assistance depends on the destination and your account allowances.
01

Find the correct publication record

Open Backlink management, select the website context and search by destination, website or URL. Use All records or Needs action to narrow the list. Review progress and pending submissions remain in Plan. Checks limited and Awaiting first check help separate uncertain results from records with confirmed problems. Select a record to read its detailed evidence.

02

Read the latest evidence before acting

Check Page, Target link, Indexability and Last automated check separately. A public page may contain only plain URL text, omit the link, or block indexing. A link marked Present describes the observed check, not permanent availability. Indexable describes the inspected restrictions and does not confirm that a search engine has indexed the page.

03

Request a fresh check when appropriate

Use Check now for an individual result. For several records, use the batch-check controls, select the intended records and choose Recheck. Wait for completion and read the resulting details rather than repeatedly starting checks. A new check can still be limited by the destination; inspect its explanation and the recorded time.

04

Verify uncertain results on the source page

For Automated check limited or Automated check could not finish, use the offered link to open the page manually. Confirm whether it loads and contains a clickable link to the intended website. Restrictions, incomplete content or a timeout do not by themselves prove removal. If the page really has changed, record what you observed and decide whether to correct the published URL or contact the destination through its normal process.

05

Choose a policy after manual verification

Only after inspecting the source and confirming the backlink, use Confirm manually. Choose Recheck in 30 days, Recheck in 90 days or Manual checks only according to the available control. This records a manual observation and pauses repeated alerts; it does not turn a failed automated check into an automated success. Read the confirmation date and next-check information. Resume automatic checks when you want automated monitoring to continue.

06

Record the response and resolve the follow-up

Use Update record or Record follow-up to keep corrections and notes. Mark resolved closes a handled follow-up; it does not prove the page or link changed. For a known indexability restriction, Acknowledge state stops that specific reminder while page and backlink monitoring continues; Resume alerts enables it again. Reinspect evidence after any actual correction.

DECISION REFERENCE

Understand the monitoring signals

Use this reference alongside the recorded requirements and evidence for your destination. Check uncertain details before acting.

SignalWhat to readHow to use it
Page availableThe published page was readable at the check time.Inspect the target link separately; page availability alone is not a backlink.
Target link PresentA matching clickable link was observed.Check the destination address and any reported rel attributes.
Plain text only / Not foundThe check did not establish a matching clickable link.Open the source and confirm the finding before deciding what to change.
Cannot verify automaticallyAccess was blocked, timed out or could not be read completely.Verify manually or wait for a later check; do not assume the backlink was removed.
Indexable / BlockedThe check observed whether indexing restrictions were present. This is different from actual search-engine indexing and link presence.
Manually confirmed / Mark resolvedA human observation or follow-up action was recorded.Keep the date and evidence; these controls do not certify a successful automated check.

EXPECTED RESULT

Check your result

You can explain the latest page, link and indexability results, including uncertainty. Any manual verification has a suitable monitoring policy, and any resolved follow-up has an actual action behind it. A newer check or recorded note provides the evidence for your decision.

WHEN YOU NEED HELP

Common questions

Does Cannot verify automatically mean the link is gone?

No. The destination may restrict automated access or time out. Open the source page and inspect the actual link.

Is a page with plain URL text a backlink?

Plain text is different from a clickable hyperlink. Inspect the result and the destination address rather than relying on the visible domain name.

Does Indexable mean Google has indexed the page?

No. It indicates the observed indexing restrictions, not inclusion in a search engine’s index.

What changes when I confirm manually?

The record stores a manual confirmation and applies the selected 30-day, 90-day or manual-only monitoring policy. Review the next-check information and use Resume automatic checks when needed.

Does Mark resolved repair the backlink?

No. It records that you handled a follow-up. The source page remains under the destination’s control.

Can I stop reminders about a known indexing restriction?

Use Acknowledge state when offered. Page and backlink monitoring continues, and Resume alerts can restore the specific reminder.

Can I add or import links from elsewhere?

Yes. Choose Add backlink or Import CSV in Backlink management. CSV requires a url column, with optional target_url, name, note and published_at (YYYY-MM-DD). Files must be UTF-8, no larger than 1 MB and contain at most 500 data rows. Preview errors and duplicates, then import valid new rows within the remaining monitoring capacity.

Why are there no check results yet?

The record may be awaiting its first check. Confirm the published URL and use Check now where available. Read any error or limitation before drawing conclusions.
