Free directory submissions: four opportunities and the conditions to check

A dated shortlist from Submora’s platform library, with product fit, review expectations and reciprocal-link requirements—not just a list of URLs.

A free submission can still have conditions

For a new product, a short list of relevant places to submit is more useful than hundreds of undifferentiated links. The first question is whether the platform’s readers are likely to care about your product. The second is what the submission actually requires.

Free can mean an editorial submission, a public product profile, or a listing that requires a reciprocal link. It does not automatically mean instant publication, a particular link attribute, referral traffic or a search-ranking improvement.

Four opportunities to evaluate

PlatformProduct fitRecorded review windowReciprocal linkLast verified
IndieLogsIndie product / project profileInstant in our recordNot requiredOct 26, 2026
LaunchPandaStartup / product promotion profileInstant in our recordRequiredOct 15, 2026
AITACHAI toolsWithin one week in our recordNot requiredOct 28, 2026
Future ToolsAI toolsWithin 72 hours in our recordNot requiredSep 20, 2026

These are different kinds of opportunities. IndieLogs is a project-profile option; LaunchPanda has a reciprocal-link condition; the AI-focused entries are not a fit for an unrelated product. Review windows are dated records rather than service guarantees. Future Tools has the oldest verification date here and deserves an extra check before you plan around it.

Do not turn an estimated review window into an assumed published date. Save the confirmation you receive and return to the platform to find the actual public listing. If the listing does not appear, keep the submission pending rather than recording a backlink that you cannot inspect.

Browse platform requirements in the public library

Check these five things before filling the form

  1. Audience fit: does the platform feature products like yours, and would its readers understand why yours belongs?
  2. Cost: distinguish the ordinary submission route from optional promotion, priority review or a paid placement.
  3. Requirements: check account verification, screenshots, description limits and any reciprocal-link condition.
  4. Publication: establish whether approval produces a public product page, a profile, an article or something else.
  5. Evidence: record the official submission URL, the date you checked the conditions, and the eventual published URL.

A platform with a clear audience and a useful product page may be a better fit than a high-metric site that accepts anything. Where a backlink is requested, decide whether the relationship makes sense for your visitors. Avoid treating reciprocal links as a quantity target.

Prepare a reusable source, then adapt it

Keep one accurate product name, canonical website URL, short introduction, longer description and a small set of up-to-date screenshots. Adapt the emphasis and length for each platform instead of inventing a different product identity every time. Review generated wording against the actual product before you use it.

Submora connects this preparation with platform requirements, assisted filling and a submission record. Follow each platform’s content rules, including restrictions on AI-generated text. The browser helper works on supported forms; you still review the fields, handle login or verification, and perform the final submission yourself.

Judge the listing after it goes live

Check whether the public page loads, whether it contains the intended link, and whether that link points to the correct destination. Then look for relevant visits and downstream actions in your analytics. A saved published URL is a starting point for evaluation, not proof that the channel is working.

Google identifies low-quality directory links and links created primarily to manipulate rankings as examples of link spam. Select channels for relevance and useful exposure; do not interpret this shortlist as a recommendation to accumulate links indiscriminately.
